My name is Chris Dunn and I want to tell you a little about myself and a little about my company.
Believe it or not, but I didn’t start off as a window and door installation guy. We actually opened our business way back in 2003 as a custom home design and build general contracting company. During the next few years we successfully designed custom projects for over 35 homes and performed construction work on over 140 homes in the Anchorage area.
Due to the nature of “new construction” housing. Customers were often forced to purchase less than quality products for their home. These products are often called “contractor grade”. I saw builders install some of the cheapest, junkiest, contractor grade windows in some of the most beautiful new homes.
Since the margins were very tight for the builders, there was no room in the budget for better products. But here’s what bothered me… I saw those exact same junky windows being sold to unsuspecting homeowners as a replacement window!
Why did that drive me crazy? Because the contractors selling the junk were telling the homeowner that their windows were great! But they were the furthest thing from it… time and time again, we saw good people throwing away their hard-earned money on “cheap” windows. Imagine, having a “window expert” come to your home, tell you he has quality windows, only to find out they are junk “contractor grade” only AFTER they were installed… It drove me nuts.
Maybe I was just raised differently because I just can’t fit that thought process into my head. If someone pays you their hard-earned money for something, they should get EXACTLY what they pay for. No scratch that. They should get more than what they pay for. Why is customer service so bad these days? Why do so many people accept marginal work and call it good? Why do so many people throw away their hard-earned money? In my opinion, it’s because they simply don’t know any better.
So instead of stewing over it and complaining to anyone who would listen… I decided to do something about it. I decided to get out of custom home building and focus exclusively on providing my clients the absolute best value for their money when it came to their windows and doors.
Bottom Line: I was going to educate myself first and educate my clients second.
I spent countless hours researching every window I could find. Then I researched the companies behind them. And ultimately, decided on Renewal By Anderson, because in my opinion, they are the only windows that will hold up to the brutal Alaska weather.
